Anti-Semitism and “Owszem” - 2

In America a certain disdain for Jews was termed "country-club" anti-Semitism. This genre is reminiscent of the "Caste System" in that it put Jews on a lower rung on the social ladder. This phenomenon was well-documented in the Novel and Motion Picture -
Gentleman's Agreement:
The World-Famous Novel About Antisemitism in "Respectable America":
One of the clever lines in this post-war piece is that Hitler made anti-Semitism disrespected via the Nazi Atrocities. IOW w/o Hitler, Country Club Anti-Semitism would have never been confronted.
There we have it, in the USA, anti-Semitism - so long as it did not involve pogroms or physical abuse - was perfectly Kosher. That is the American Owszem.
